Soaring skyward, to uplift the heart and strengthen the spirit, a beacon of light; illuminating the stories of loved ones lost while serving our country.
Illuminating Courage; a Spokane memorial honoring the Veterans of our country, was dedicated on Veterans Day 2015. Land Expressions’ in-house artist Kathryn Taylor-Swehla conceived this sculpture and collaborated with Land Expressions which managed the technical design process and managed the construction of the memorial. Hazen Audel a talented Spokane artist in his own right, led the sculptural steel fabrication team. Built of quarter inch steel the piece is 24 feet tall and 42 feet from side to side with a path of engraved pavers connecting to other memorials on the site of the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.
This project was directed by Spokane’s Gold Star Families with generous contributions of time, money and support from the community. Land Expressions in honored to be a part of this important and meaningful project.
